RMPBS Tape 4 -- This video is a compilation video of several bits of footage from our collection, It is unclear as to why these films were grouped together Footage starts out with a single skier, Bill Copper, skiing at Ski Cooper, Colorado, The footage is black and white with no sound, Appears to be circa 1950s, Bill is wearing buckle ski boots The footage then changes to "Introducing The Lynx", Music soundtrack, Color, Possibly 60s or 70s?, Male appears to be wearing Scott rear entry ski boots, Footage has narration > Introducing the Lynx, Lynx is a ski, Comes in long, short, narrow, or wide, "You will be able to do things on skis you never thought you could do before" the narrator claims, First scene keeps replaying (3x), Skier is crushing moguls in an orange sweater and green/gray pants, Wearing sunglasses, "Tail controls the ski > Called third edge control, No tail to turn, less resistance, less swing way equals new creative freedom, Ice just turns to powder on these skis, Exert tail pressure to quickly get down mountain", Female skier enters around 1:14, Shots of him and her skiing the trees, She is wearing a 1 piece orange ski suit, The male catches up to the female skier and they take off down the mountain, The male then performs ski ballet, Children and other skiers are around, Passing by ultimate control is stressed again with the Lynx, Revolutionary design, high speeds, conventional styles, moveability, Now the man and woman are skiing downhill with a child, skis are good for the whole family, Closes with lots of quick moves and skiing on moguls, "Lynx will open a whole new world of skiing to you" the footage claims The next section shows a gentleman working on a lift, that is believed to be at Ski Cooper (based off PP records), Several men are testing the lift by using sand bags, A double chair lift, No sound, Black and white, Looks like they are still installing parts of the lift still Next portion shows ski patrollers at what is believed to be Arapahoe Basin or A-Basin (our records say Winter Park?), Ski patrol |
